Exhaustive Revelation

Quran

"And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, 'Indeed, he is mad.'"

Surah Al-Qalam · 68:51

Classical scholars noted that external distraction and inability to maintain visual focus (zalaq) relates to disturbances in the faculty of attention and perception, relevant to hyperactive mental states.

"Indeed, mankind was created anxious: When evil touches him, impatient."

Surah Al-Ma'arij · 70:19-20

The term 'halū'an' describes restlessness and inability to remain still, a fundamental characteristic of hyperactivity and impulsivity in ADHD.

"Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?"

Surah Al-Mu'minun · 23:115

'Abathan' refers to purposelessness and lack of directed action, which classical scholars linked to scattered attention and inability to maintain purposeful focus, core features of ADHD.

Sahih Hadith

"The Messenger of Allah said: When the call for prayer is made, Satan retreats breaking wind so he may not hear the call, but when the call is finished he comes back, until when the iqama is pronounced he retreats again, and when it is finished he comes back and distracts a person, saying: Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such, about things he has not had in mind, until the man does not know how much he has prayed."

Sahih Muslim · 2722SahihNarrator: Abu Huraira

This hadith specifically addresses involuntary mental distraction (khatir) during focused tasks, describing the inability to maintain attention and count accurately, which parallels the inattention symptoms of ADHD.

"The Messenger of Allah said: Seek help in having your needs met by keeping them secret, for everyone who has a blessing is envied."

Sunan Abi Dawud · 4946HasanNarrator: Abdullah ibn Abbas

Classical scholars noted this hadith addresses the ability to maintain internal focus and self-control (kitman) without impulsive disclosure, a skill deficient in those with poor impulse regulation.
