Exhaustive Revelation

Quran

"O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:168

Emphasizes consuming tayyib (wholesome, pure) foods that are easily digestible and avoiding harmful substances that corrupt digestion and produce excess gas and fermentation.

"And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines; for you therein are abundant fruits and from them you eat. And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat."

Surah Al-Mu'minun · 23:19-20

References olive oil (zayt) which classical physicians prescribed to reduce intestinal gas, ease digestion, and soften the bowels when bloating occurs.

Sahih Hadith

"The Messenger of Allah never criticized food. If he desired it, he would eat it, and if he disliked it, he would leave it."

Jami at-Tirmidhi · 2043HasanNarrator: Abu Hurairah

Establishes the principle of eating according to bodily temperament and avoiding foods that cause personal distress or digestive upset, a key preventive measure against bloating and gas.

"Healing is in three things: in the incision of the cupper, in drinking honey, or in cauterization by fire, but I forbid my Ummah from cauterization."

Sunan Abi Dawud · 3852SahihNarrator: Ibn Abbas

Honey is mentioned as a therapeutic remedy, which Ibn Sina specifically prescribed mixed with warm water to expel intestinal wind and relieve bloating through its digestive and carminative properties.

"What do you use as a laxative? She said: Shubrum. He said: It is hot and strong. She said: Then I used Senna. The Prophet said: If there was anything that could save from death, it would be Senna."

Sunan Ibn Majah · 3457HasanNarrator: Asma bint Umais

Senna (sanā) is prophetically endorsed for digestive complaints and was classically used to expel trapped intestinal gas, relieve bloating, and evacuate corrupt humors causing flatulence.

Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 14 (Diseases of the Stomach and Intestines), Chapter on Nafkh al-Batn (Abdominal Bloating and Flatulence) — Ibn Sina attributes bloating to cold temperament of the stomach, weak digestion producing crude vapors, and recommends carminative remedies including cumin, fennel, ginger, and warming digestives to expel wind.

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Treatment of Intestinal Disorders and Flatulence — Recommends prophetic foods that are easily digestible, avoiding combinations that produce fermentation, and use of senna, cumin, and olive oil to expel trapped wind and restore digestive balance.
