Exhaustive Revelation

Quran

"And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators."

Surah Al-Muminun · 23:12-14

References the divine creation of the respiratory apparatus and flesh (lungs), reminding patients that Allah who created the breathing system has knowledge of its restoration and healing.

"And have you seen the water that you drink? Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?"

Surah Al-Waqi'ah · 56:68-70

Classical scholars connected adequate hydration and respiratory moisture balance to prevention of dry lung diseases (yabūsat al-ri'ah), relevant to COPD pathophysiology of mucus dysfunction.

Sahih Hadith

"The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent down its cure.'"

Sahih al-Bukhari · 5686SahihNarrator: Abu Huraira

Specific hadith providing hope for COPD patients facing progressive disease, affirming that even chronic respiratory limitation has therapeutic pathways known to the Creator.

"She said: 'I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with a son of mine, and I had pressed his uvula for a complaint. He said: Why do you afflict your children by pressing like this? Use this Indian incense (costus), for it contains seven types of cures, one of them being for pleurisy (dhāt al-janb).'"

Sunan Abi Dawud · 3855HasanNarrator: Umm Qais bint Mihsan

Costus (al-qust al-hindi) was prescribed for respiratory diseases including pleurisy, a condition involving inflamed lung membranes similar to inflammatory component of COPD exacerbations.
