"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."
Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:286
This verse contains the supplication asking Allah not to burden one with what they cannot bear, directly applicable to fibromyalgia patients facing chronic debilitating pain beyond normal capacity.
"And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend."
Surah Fussilat · 41:34
This principle of repelling harm with good applies to managing fibromyalgia through positive therapeutic interventions, gentle movement, and spiritual practices to counter chronic pain.
Sahih Hadith
ما أنزل الله داءً إلا أنزل له شفاءً علمه من علمه وجهله من جهله
"Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent down its cure; some know it and some do not."
Sahih Muslim · 2573SahihNarrator: Abu Hurairah
This hadith provides hope for fibromyalgia patients whose condition is often deemed incurable, affirming that divine cure exists even for poorly understood chronic pain syndromes.
"Some of the companions of the Prophet came upon a tribe of Arabs who did not entertain them. While they were in that state, the chief of that tribe was stung. They said: Do you have any medicine or anyone who can recite ruqyah? They said: You did not entertain us, and we shall not do it until you fix a payment. So they agreed upon a flock of sheep. He began reciting Umm al-Quran (Al-Fatihah), gathering his saliva and spitting, and he was cured."
Sahih al-Bukhari · 5667SahihNarrator: Abu Sa'id al-Khudri
This hadith establishes the legitimacy of spiritual healing through Quranic recitation for physical ailments including widespread bodily pain as experienced in fibromyalgia.
"I complained to the Messenger of Allah about a pain I experienced in my body. The Messenger of Allah said: Place your hand on the place where you feel pain in your body and say 'Bismillah' three times, and say seven times 'A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir' (I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and fear)."
Sunan Abi Dawud · 3855HasanNarrator: Uthman ibn Abi al-As
This hadith specifically addresses widespread bodily pain without clear localization, precisely matching the diffuse musculoskeletal pain characteristic of fibromyalgia.
