Exhaustive Revelation

Quran

"O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:168

This verse establishes the principle of consuming only pure (tayyib) food, directly relevant to food poisoning prevention as consuming corrupted or contaminated food violates this command.

"Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah."

Surah Al-Maidah · 5:3

The prohibition of dead animals (maytah) includes spoiled meat which harbors toxic bacteria causing food poisoning, reflecting divine wisdom in protecting human health.

"He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:173

Reiterates the prohibition of consuming decomposed flesh which produces putrefactive toxins responsible for severe food poisoning syndromes.

Sahih Hadith

"The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Cover the vessel and tie the water-skin, for there is a night in the year when pestilence descends, and it does not pass by any vessel that is not covered or water-skin that is not tied but some of that pestilence descends into it."

Sahih Muslim · 2051SahihNarrator: Jabir ibn Abdullah

This hadith establishes prophetic instruction for covering food and water to prevent contamination from pathogens that cause foodborne illness.

"The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If a fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink) and then throw it away, for one of its wings has disease and the other has the cure."

Sahih al-Bukhari · 5426SahihNarrator: Abu Hurayrah

This hadith addresses contamination of food and drink by vectors, relevant to understanding prophetic approach to managing potential foodborne pathogen exposure.

"The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When one of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he licks it or has it licked."

Sunan Ibn Majah · 3352HasanNarrator: Ibn Abbas

This hadith establishes hand hygiene principles related to eating, preventing cross-contamination that leads to food poisoning transmission.
