"O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy."
Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:168
Classical scholars linked nutritional deficiency (poor tayyib intake) to hair weakness and loss in women, as hair requires proper nourishment from lawful sustenance.
"So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, 'My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.'"
Surah Al-Qasas · 28:24
Ibn Kathir notes this supplication for provision applies to physical deficiencies including bodily adornments; classical physicians recommended du'a for restoration of hair as divine provision.
Sahih Hadith
"A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'My daughter had measles and her hair fell out, and I have married her off. Can I add hair extensions to her hair?' The Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who adds hair extensions and the one who asks for it."
Sahih Muslim · 2323SahihNarrator: Aishah
Directly addresses post-illness hair loss in women and establishes the prohibited solution (hair extensions), implying permissible natural remedies should be sought instead.
"When anyone complained of an ailment or had a sore or a wound, the Prophet ﷺ would place his forefinger on the ground and then raise it saying: 'In the name of Allah, the soil of our land with the saliva of one of us will cure our sick by the permission of our Lord.'"
Sunan Abi Dawud · 4166HasanNarrator: Salma Umm Rafi'
This remedy was applied to scalp conditions including hair root inflammation that leads to hair loss, per classical Tibb commentaries.

Ibn Sīnā · Al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb
Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 1, Chapter on Hair Diseases (Amrad al-Sha'r) — attributes female hair loss to humoral imbalance (especially phlegm and black bile), nutritional deficiency, or excessive heat in the scalp; recommends topical oils (olive, sesame), sidr washes, and cooling/moistening dietary adjustments with iron-rich foods.
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Henna (Al-Hinna) and scattered references in Chapter on Grooming — emphasizes henna's prophetic use for scalp health and hair strengthening in women, combined with proper nutrition and avoidance of prohibited hair practices.
