"We have certainly created man in the best of stature."
Surah At-Tin · 95:4
Affirms that human vitality and strength, including hormonal balance and masculine vigor, are part of Allah's perfect design, and their decline requires attention to restore optimal physiological function.
"And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure."
Surah Al-Hijr · 15:21
Indicates that bodily substances including male hormones and vital essences (quwwa) are governed by divine measure, and their deficiency reflects an imbalance requiring restoration through lawful means.
"The Prophet (ﷺ) saw a woman, and so he came to his wife Zaynab and fulfilled his need, then he went out to his companions and said: 'A woman advances in the form of a devil, so when one of you sees a woman, let him come to his wife, for that will repel what he feels in his heart.'"
Sahih Muslim · 1401SahihNarrator: Jabir ibn Abdullah
Demonstrates the Prophet's acknowledgment of healthy male sexual desire and vigor as natural, and low testosterone causing diminished libido represents a medical condition contrary to this prophetic norm requiring treatment.
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Marry the loving and fertile woman, for I will be proud of your great numbers before the other nations.'"
Sunan Ibn Majah · 1853HasanNarrator: Ibn Abbas
Indicates that male fertility and reproductive capacity, which are testosterone-dependent, are valued in Islamic tradition, and hormonal deficiency compromising these functions warrants medical intervention.
Classical Medical Sources
Ibn Sīnā · Al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb
Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 20 (Diseases of the Reproductive Organs), Chapter on Weak Sexual Power (Du'f al-Bah) - He attributes diminished male vigor to coldness and dryness of temperament, weakness of the generative faculty, and recommends warming foods (dates, chickpeas, pistachios), exercise, adequate sleep, and compound medicines containing ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg to restore heat and moisture to the reproductive organs.
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Foods and Their Properties (Fi al-Aghdhiya wa Khawassiha) - He discusses foods that strengthen the body's vital heat and generative power, emphasizing dates, honey, meat (especially fowl and lamb), eggs, and nuts, noting that deficiency in masculine vigor results from weakness in innate heat (harara ghariziyya) and recommends prophetic foods combined with moderation in sexual activity and avoidance of foods causing coldness.
