"And they ask you about menstruation. Say, 'It is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure.'"

Ibn Sīnā · Al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb
Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 21, Chapter on Menstrual Disorders (Ikhtilaf al-Hayd) and Uterine Pain (Waja' al-Rahim) — Ibn Sina attributes dysmenorrhea to excessive cold temperament in the womb or obstruction of menstrual blood, recommending warming emollient remedies, warm compresses to the lower abdomen, and sitz baths with chamomile and fenugreek to relax the uterine muscles.
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Women's Conditions (Ahwal an-Nisa) — Ibn al-Qayyim emphasizes that menstruation is a natural purification process but acknowledges pain occurs from accumulation of cold humors, recommending warming foods, avoidance of cold water, and rest as prophetic wisdom for women's monthly cycles.

Prophetic Pharmacy
Fenugreek decoction
الحلبة
Preparation: Boil one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in two cups of water until reduced by half, strain, and drink warm with honey twice daily during menstruation
Duration: Throughout the menstrual period, especially on days with severe pain
Source: Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 2, describes fenugreek as mulayyina (emollient) and musakkin li-awja' al-rahim (soothing to uterine pain)
Warm cumin water
الكمون
Preparation: Steep one teaspoon of roasted cumin seeds in hot water for 10 minutes, drink warm on an empty stomach
Duration: Three times daily, beginning two days before expected menses and continuing through the cycle
