"O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing."
Surah Al-Hajj · 22:5
This verse acknowledges Allah's decree over life span and death from illness, relevant to pneumonia as a potentially fatal respiratory condition requiring submission to divine will alongside medical care.
"And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators."
Surah Al-Mu'minun · 23:12-14
This verse describes the intricate creation of the respiratory and bodily systems that Allah fashioned, reminding the pneumonia patient that the Creator who made the lungs can heal them.
"For every disease there is a cure, and when the proper cure for a disease is applied, it is cured with the permission of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious."
Sahih Muslim · 2203SahihNarrator: Jabir ibn Abdullah
This hadith establishes the principle that pneumonia, as a serious lung disease, has a divinely-ordained cure that physicians must seek through proper medical treatment.
"O Messenger of Allah, should we not seek medical treatment? He said: Yes, O servants of Allah, seek medical treatment, for Allah has not created a disease without creating a cure for it, except for one disease. They asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is it? He said: Old age."
Sunan Abi Dawud · 3855HasanNarrator: Usamah ibn Sharik
This hadith directly commands seeking medical treatment for diseases like pneumonia, emphasizing that patients must pursue antibiotics and supportive care as divinely-sanctioned healing means.
