Exhaustive Revelation

Quran

"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:155

Addresses chronic afflictions and physical diminishment as tests requiring patience, directly applicable to the progressive disability and joint destruction characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis.

"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity."

Surah Al-Baqarah · 2:286

Provides theological framework for accommodating reduced physical capacity in worship and daily activities for those with chronic joint inflammation and deformity.

Sahih Hadith

"No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."

Sahih Muslim · 2575SahihNarrator: Abu Hurairah

Specifically mentions 'nasab' (fatigue) and 'wasab' (chronic persistent pain), both hallmark symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis's systemic inflammation.

"Place your hand where you feel pain in your body and say 'Bismillah' three times, and say seven times 'A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir' (I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I find and fear)."

Sunan Abi Dawud · 3855HasanNarrator: Uthman ibn Abi al-As

Direct prophetic instruction for localized joint pain, applicable to the multiple inflamed joints in rheumatoid arthritis requiring du'a with hand placement.

Classical Medical Sources

Ibn Sīnā · Al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb

Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 18, Chapter on Diseases of the Joints and Ligaments (Amrāḍ al-Mafāṣil wa al-Ribāṭāt) - classifies joint inflammation as arising from phlegmatic and sanguine humoral excess, recommending warming topical applications, gentle exercise, dietary modification toward hot-dry foods, and evacuation therapies including hijama for chronic inflammatory arthropathies.

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Hijama (Cupping) - discusses cupping therapy for joint pain and inflammation (awjā' al-mafāṣil), recommending specific points on affected limbs and advocating warming remedies like costus and olive oil massage for cold-natured joint afflictions with stiffness.
