Ibn Sina, Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb, Book 3, Fann 15, Chapter on Diseases of the Bladder (Amrād al-Mathāna) and Chapter on Dysuria (ʿUsr al-Bawl) - He describes urinary tract inflammation as arising from hot bile or hot phlegm causing burning urination, recommends cooling diuretics including barley water, purslane, cucumber seeds, and watermelon seeds, with emphasis on increased fluid intake and avoidance of spicy foods and sexual intercourse during treatment.
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah · Al-Ṭibb an-Nabawī
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, At-Tibb an-Nabawi, Chapter on Talbina and Chapter on Purification (Tahāra) - While not dedicating a specific chapter to urinary infections, he emphasizes the cooling and soothing properties of barley preparations for internal heat and inflammation, and stresses the prophylactic importance of proper washing with water after urination to prevent diseases of the urogenital tract, particularly for women.

Prophetic Pharmacy
Barley water (Talbina)
ماء الشعير (التلبينة)
Preparation: Boil two tablespoons of ground barley in 4 cups of water until reduced by half, strain, and drink warm. May be sweetened with honey. Take on empty stomach and between meals.
Duration: Daily for 7-10 days during acute infection, then 3 times weekly for prevention

Costus (Qust al-Bahri)
القسط البحري
Preparation: Half teaspoon of ground costus mixed in warm water or milk, taken twice daily. The aromatic marine costus (qust bahri) is preferred over Indian costus for urinary conditions.
Duration: 7 days during active infection
